Terms of Service & EULA

PassLocker — by Carlos Gonçalves | Last Updated: 2026

Please read these Terms of Service and End User License Agreement (together, "Terms") carefully before downloading, installing, or using PassLocker. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you ("User", "you") and Carlos Gonçalves ("Developer", "we", "us") governing your use of the PassLocker software.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PassLocker ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the Software.

2. License Grant

Upon purchase, the Developer grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use PassLocker on devices you own or control, for personal or professional purposes, subject to your compliance with these Terms.

3. System Requirements

PassLocker is currently built exclusively for Windows. To use the Software, your device must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • Architecture: x64 compatible
  • Dependencies: None — all required components are bundled in the installer
  • Internet Connection: Not required (PassLocker runs 100% offline)

PassLocker is not currently available for macOS or Linux. Support for these platforms is not guaranteed and, if ever introduced, would be announced separately.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

  • a) Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software;
  • b) Distribute, resell, sublicense, or rent the Software, or represent it as your own product;
  • c) Remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or branding notices contained in the Software;
  • d) Use the Software for any unlawful purpose or in a manner that violates applicable law.

5. Purchase & Licensing Terms

PassLocker is sold as a one-time purchase. There are no recurring subscriptions or in-app purchases associated with the Software. Once purchased, your license is perpetual — you own your copy and may continue using the version purchased indefinitely, subject to these Terms.

License verification and checkout are processed online through third-party payment providers (such as Stripe) at the time of purchase. Your local password vault and its contents are never transmitted as part of this process — see our Privacy Policy for details.

6. No Warranty

The Software is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Developer does not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Carlos Gonçalves be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of passwords, loss of business, or lost profits — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Your Responsibility — Master Password

You are solely responsible for your Master Password. PassLocker does not store your Master Password anywhere, and it cannot be recovered, reset, or retrieved by the Developer or anyone else. If you lose or forget your Master Password, the encrypted data in your vault becomes permanently inaccessible. We strongly recommend keeping a secure, offline record of your Master Password.

Critical Warning: Zero-Knowledge Protection

Because PassLocker is 100% offline, there is no server recovery option. Lost Master Passwords cannot be retrieved by support. Always store a secure backup of your Master Password offline.

9. Data Responsibility

You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your vault data. The Developer is not responsible for any data loss resulting from device failure, file corruption, uninstallation, software bugs, or user error. We strongly recommend using the built-in Encrypted Backup (Export) feature on a regular basis.

Backup Best Practices

We advise regularly exporting your vault using the Encrypted Backup feature inside the application and keeping the resulting file on an external USB key or a secure private drive.

10. Updates

PassLocker may be updated from time to time to introduce new features, fix bugs, or improve security. While use of the most recent version is recommended, these Terms apply to all versions of the Software, past and present.

11. Open Source Components

PassLocker is built using open-source technologies, including Python, Flask, PyWebview, Tailwind CSS, and the cryptography library, each used under its respective open-source license. PassLocker itself remains a commercial product, and this use of open-source components does not grant you any rights to the Software beyond those described in these Terms.

12. Termination

This license is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically, without notice, if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and, if requested, destroy all copies in your possession.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Software after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Contact

For questions, bug reports, or support requests related to these Terms, please contact the Developer:
